My Son Doesn't Know What a President Is
Raise them right, and by that I mean outside of the right/left paradigm.
I didn’t watch any of the events yesterday and I didn’t acknowledge it to my family.
Well, that’s not completely true. I did catch some of the festivities when I was at the gym on the treadmill, and I had forgotten my headphones. I caught the part right after the inauguration when Trump had just walked around outside, and Biden was bouncing out of town.
Trump came into some new area to give another speech and he was just freestyling to his crowd. I was reading some of the dialogue and it was so simple and silly. Braggadocios propaganda. Classic Trump.
On the split screen was Biden getting out of Dodge. First, he walked to a helicopter which took him to Andrews Airforce base. Then he got out of the chopper to get into Airforce 1? Maybe it was Airforce 2 now? Anyway, the plane sat there for a while preparing for takeoff.
Meanwhile Trump was still riffin’. I started thinking, if he ends this speech as soon as the plane takes off you know this is all choreographed. Lo and behold, the plane took off and Trump ceased his rambling and off to the next act.
Politics is theater. My 7-year-old has no need to know or pay attention to any of these clowns and neither do I. The more we pay attention to this charade the more entrenched it becomes in our lives. Either way, whether you are hating on the man on the screen or loving on him (or her), you are reinforcing the belief that they have control over our lives. They actually don’t.
Stop watching the news for month and see how much your life improves.
